Heavy rain and adverse weather have disrupted flight schedules across parts of north and western India, prompting leading airlines to advise passengers to monitor their flight status before travelling to the airport.
Air India, IndiGo and SpiceJet have all issued separate travel advisories in recent days, warning of possible delays and disruptions as poor weather conditions affect flight operations, particularly in Delhi and Mumbai.
The advisories come as airlines work to manage operational challenges caused by heavy rainfall and unfavourable weather, while seeking to minimise inconvenience for travellers.
Airlines caution passengers over disruptions
Air India said adverse weather conditions could affect flight operations to and from Mumbai and Delhi. In a travel advisory posted on X on July 5, the airline encouraged passengers to check the latest flight status before leaving for the airport to ensure a smoother travel experience.
The advisory did not specify the extent of delays or cancellations but indicated weather could affect operations across the two major aviation hubs.

IndiGo issued a similar advisory on July 7, stating that bad weather over Delhi had impacted flight schedules. The airline said it was closely monitoring weather conditions and working to operate services safely and as smoothly as possible.
Passengers were requested to stay updated through the airline's official flight status channels before travelling.

SpiceJet also warned travellers on July 7 that heavy rain in Mumbai and Delhi could affect departures, arrivals and consequential flights. The airline advised passengers to keep track of their flight status before heading to the airport.

What the airlines have advised
Across the three advisories, airlines shared similar guidance for passengers:
- Check flight status before leaving for the airport.
- Expect possible delays or schedule changes due to adverse weather.
- Monitor official airline communication channels for updates.
- Allow additional time for travel where required.
None of the airlines announced a broad suspension of services. Their advisories focused on potential operational disruptions caused by weather conditions.
Weather remains a key operational challenge
Heavy rainfall during the monsoon season regularly affects aviation operations in India, particularly at busy airports such as Delhi and Mumbai, where reduced visibility, waterlogging and air traffic congestion can lead to delays.
Airlines typically issue travel advisories during such periods to help passengers plan their journeys and reduce congestion at airport terminals.
The latest advisories indicate carriers are continuing to monitor weather developments closely while updating schedules as operational conditions evolve.
