IndiGo will become the launch carrier at Noida International Airport when commercial operations begin on June 15, marking a significant milestone for one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects.
The low-cost airline plans to gradually introduce services from the airport, also referred to as DXN, to more than 16 domestic destinations as it expands operations across the Delhi National Capital Region.
According to Aviation Week reporting, the first phase of operations will include metro routes as well as connectivity to secondary cities, positioning the airport as an additional aviation gateway for northern India.
IndiGo said the launch schedule will begin with services to Amritsar and Hyderabad on June 15, followed by Bengaluru and Jammu from June 16.
A broader network expansion planned from July 1 will add several additional destinations across the domestic market.

The airport’s opening has faced multiple delays linked to construction and certification processes. Commercial launch was originally expected in late 2025 before timelines were revised.
In early May, the airport confirmed that operations would commence on June 15 after receiving approval for its Aerodrome Security Program from India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.
Following IndiGo’s launch, operations by Akasa Air and Air India Express are also expected to begin from the airport.

Long-term expansion plans envision a significantly larger aviation hub with capacity expected to exceed 70 million passengers annually through four phases of development.
The project is among the largest airport infrastructure developments currently underway in India and is expected to play a major role in supporting future traffic growth in northern India.
In April, the airport appointed Nitu Samra as interim chief executive officer pending completion of a formal leadership selection process.
Samra has served as chief financial officer since October 2021.

The leadership changes come as the airport enters its operational phase after several years of construction and regulatory preparation.
The opening of Noida International Airport comes amid rapid expansion in India’s aviation market, driven by rising passenger demand, airline fleet growth and increased investment in airport infrastructure.
Delhi NCR remains one of the country’s busiest aviation regions, and the addition of a new large-scale airport is expected to ease congestion while improving connectivity across northern and central India.
For IndiGo, the launch strengthens its domestic network footprint at a time when the airline continues to expand capacity across both metropolitan and regional markets.
