LOT launches non-stop charter from Katowice to Costa Rica

A total of 233 passengers departed from Katowice on 5 November 2026 aboard the inaugural Rainbow charter flight to Guanacaste Airport in Costa Rica. Operated by LOT Polish Airlines using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the non-stop service marks the first direct connection between Katowice and the Costa Rican destination, eliminating the need for connecting flights.

For the first time, passengers can travel non-stop from Katowice to Costa Rica through a charter service organised by Rainbow Tours.

The inaugural flight departed shortly after 9:35 am, with a LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner carrying 233 passengers to Costa Rica. The charter service was organised by Rainbow Tours, with Costa Rica often referred to as the 'Switzerland of Central America'.

Rainbow's new charter service operates to Guanacaste Airport in northwestern Costa Rica, a region known for its beaches, tropical landscapes and diverse natural attractions. The non-stop connection allows passengers to reach the destination without layovers, making the long-haul journey more convenient.

The service is operated using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a wide-body aircraft designed for long-haul international flights. The journey departs from Katowice Airport.

After approximately 13 hours of flying, passengers will arrive at Guanacaste Airport, where local authorities will welcome them in a traditional ceremony, offering their first experience of Costa Rica's 'Pura Vida' spirit.

The inaugural Costa Rica flight will not be the only new long-haul service from Katowice Airport this month. On Monday, 9 November, Rainbow will launch another charter flight, this time offering a non-stop connection to the Vietnamese leisure destination of Mui Ne. The service will also operate directly from Katowice Airport.

LOT Polish Airlines will operate the charter service using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, flying from Katowice (KTW) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and operating the return journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Katowice. The aircraft will provide a non-stop connection between the two cities in both directions.
