Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will remain suspended for six hours on May 7 as part of scheduled pre-monsoon runway maintenance. Both runways—09/27 and 14/32—will be non-operational between 11 AM and 5 PM, temporarily halting all arrivals and departures.
Airport operator Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) stated that the annual maintenance is critical to ensure safe aircraft operations during the upcoming monsoon season, particularly to prevent issues such as waterlogging and surface wear.
The airport, one of India’s busiest hubs, initiated stakeholder coordination nearly six months in advance, allowing airlines to realign schedules and minimize passenger disruption.
Authorities confirmed that modern equipment and detailed inspections will be deployed to complete the work within the designated window, ensuring timely restoration of operations
