Noida International Airport has appointed its Chief Financial Officer, Nitu Samra, as interim Chief Executive Officer in a strategic move to accelerate the start of flight operations. The leadership change follows regulatory requirements mandating that airport CEOs in India must be Indian nationals.
Samra replaces former CEO Christoph Schnellmann, a Swiss national, who has transitioned to the role of Executive Vice Chairman on the airport’s board. The shift ensures compliance with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) norms, which had delayed final security clearance for the airport.
Having served as CFO since October 2021, Samra has been closely involved in the airport’s financial planning, governance, and strategic development during its critical build phase.
The appointment is expected to expedite regulatory approvals and operational readiness, with flight operations likely to commence in the near term as the airport moves into its final launch phase.
