Pune Airport Runway Shut After IAF Aircraft Incident, Flight Operations Disrupted

Flight operations at Pune Airport have resumed after authorities completed urgent runway repairs following an incident involving an Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft. The disruption, triggered by a “hard landing” late Friday night, had temporarily rendered the runway unusable and led to widespread flight cancellations and delays.

Officials confirmed that repair work was carried out on a war footing, allowing the runway to be restored within hours and enabling normal flight services to restart on Saturday morning.

The IAF had earlier stated that the aircrew involved in the incident were safe, with no damage reported to civilian infrastructure.

Pune Airport, a joint civil-military facility operating with a single runway, remains particularly vulnerable to such disruptions. The swift restoration highlights coordinated response efforts between airport authorities and the Air Force to minimize operational impact.
