Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran has reaffirmed the group’s long-term commitment to Air India, assuring employees that the board remains fully supportive of the airline despite mounting operational and financial challenges. The statement comes days after CEO Campbell Wilson’s resignation, adding fresh scrutiny to the carrier’s ongoing transformation Programme.
Addressing employees at a town hall in Gurugram, Chandrasekaran urged staff to focus on cost discipline, operational execution and service improvement as the airline faces elevated fuel prices, airspace disruptions and pressure on international routes. He reiterated that Tata Sons will continue backing Air India through its restructuring and modernization efforts.
Since reacquiring the airline in 2022, Tata Group has hired over 17,000 employees, expanded fleet investments and consolidated multiple airline entities as part of its long-term turnaround strategy.
