Alaska Airlines will launch its first nonstop route between Anchorage (ANC) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) next spring, establishing a new link between Alaska and the Asia-Pacific region. The seasonal service will connect Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport with Narita International Airport.
Alaska Airlines will operate the Anchorage–Tokyo Narita route using a Boeing 737 MAX 8, offering a range of onboard services across its cabins. First Class passengers will receive priority boarding, recliner seats and multi-course dining, starting with the airline’s Signature Charcuterie. The cabin also features Filson-designed blankets and pillows, along with a travel amenity kit containing Salt & Stone products. First Class passengers can also access the Alaska Lounge in Anchorage, which offers light meals, wines, beers and cocktails.
Main Cabin and Premium Class passengers will receive complimentary meals featuring a hot entrée and dessert, with vegetarian options available. Premium Class passengers will also have access to a selection of complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages inspired by the US West Coast.
Atmos Rewards members will have access to free Wi-Fi provided by T-Mobile on select flights, while Alaska Airlines continues installing ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi across its Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet.
“Alaska Airlines has connected Alaskans to the people and places that matter since 1932, and we’re thrilled to connect Alaska and Japan. This long-requested route will open new opportunities for tourism and commerce, bringing our distinctive hospitality to more travellers and strengthen our growing global network,” said Marilyn Romano, Regional Vice President, Alaska Airlines.

“The people of the state of Alaska are ready to welcome leisure and business travelers to Anchorage on Alaska Airlines. As the only U.S. domestic carrier serving Tokyo with scheduled service, the opportunities to see the Northern Lights or visit Denali National Park are closer than ever. We also appreciate the many resource and business partnerships in Japan and see those ties strengthening in the future with easy, nonstop flights,” said Mike Dunleavy, Governor of Alaska.
Introductory round-trip fares for the Anchorage–Tokyo Narita route start at $999 for travel between 13 May and 7 June 2027, with bookings available through 31 October, subject to availability. Tickets can be purchased through Alaska Airlines’ and Hawaiian Airlines’ websites. The route is subject to government approval, and terms and conditions apply, including a round-trip purchase requirement.
The Tokyo route is part of a wider expansion of Alaska Airlines’ Anchorage network in 2027, which will also include new seasonal nonstop services to Nashville (BNA), Austin (AUS) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). Together, the new routes will create the largest nonstop schedule from Alaska in the airline’s history. The expansion will increase access to key destinations as the airline prepares to mark 95 years of service to the state in 2027.
“Our ambitions are global, but our foundation remains the same. From the beginning, Alaska Airlines has connected communities across Alaska, the West Coast and beyond. From Anchorage to Tokyo and destinations around the globe, we’re building on that legacy and giving our guests more ways to explore the world with Alaska Airlines,” said Marilyn Romano, Regional Vice President, Alaska Airlines.
