IndiGo has launched 'IndiGo Lite', a new entry-level fare designed for Economy Class passengers travelling with only cabin baggage. The airline said the new fare gives customers the flexibility to pay only for the services they use while expanding its range of fare options.
Bookings for the new fare opened on July 1 through IndiGo's direct booking channels, including its website, mobile application and contact centre. The fare will be available for travel starting July 15.
According to the airline, the new product is aimed at travellers who do not require checked baggage and prefer a simpler, lower-cost fare option.
Available across domestic and international routes
The IndiGo Lite fare will be offered on domestic and international non-stop flights operated by the airline.
The fare is available for:
- One-way bookings
- Return bookings
- Multicity itineraries
- Adult passengers
- Child passengers
IndiGo said customers must book the fare through its direct sales channels.
Pay only for the services you need
According to IndiGo, the Lite fare allows passengers carrying only cabin baggage to purchase only the travel services they require rather than paying for features they may not use.
The airline said the move gives travellers greater flexibility while helping them manage travel expenses more efficiently.
The introduction reflects a broader trend in the aviation industry, where airlines continue to diversify fare options to cater to different customer preferences and travel habits.
Part of a broader fare strategy
The launch expands IndiGo's Economy fare portfolio as the airline continues to strengthen its product offering across domestic and international markets.
By introducing a fare specifically designed for passengers travelling light, the airline is targeting customers who prioritise lower costs and quicker airport journeys without checked baggage.
The new option also aligns with growing demand for flexible fare structures that allow passengers to customise their travel experience.
Announcement comes amid wider developments in aviation
The fare launch coincides with broader developments affecting the aviation sector.
From July 1, the Centre reduced the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) for domestic airlines by ₹5 per litre, bringing the effective price to ₹110 per litre. The government also revised export duties on petroleum products as part of its latest fortnightly review.
Meanwhile, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo's parent company, were trading 0.12% lower at ₹5,362 on Wednesday.
