Starting with the 2027 summer flight schedule, Lufthansa Group will significantly expand its services to Japan in response to strong demand. Lufthansa will resume its direct Frankfurt-Nagoya service and add a second daily flight to Tokyo-Narita. SWISS will also increase capacity and offer additional flights to Japan.
As a result, Lufthansa Group airlines will operate up to 50 flights per week to Japan in summer 2027, strengthening the group’s position as the leading European airline group in the Japanese market.

For the 2027 summer flight schedule, Lufthansa will resume its Frankfurt-Nagoya route on a seasonal basis, with flights operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Starting March 29, 2027, flight LH736 will depart Frankfurt at 2:10 p.m. and arrive in Nagoya at 9:35 a.m. the following day, local time. The return flight, LH737, will depart Nagoya at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in the Rhine-Main metropolitan area at 6:30 p.m., local time.
Nagoya is one of Japan’s key industrial and economic centres, with Aichi Prefecture serving as a major hub for the country’s automotive and manufacturing industries. The city is also known for its samurai history and provides access to regional destinations such as the historic imperial city of Kyoto. Through Lufthansa’s Frankfurt hub, passengers from Nagoya can connect to destinations across Europe and South America.
Starting March 28, 2027, Lufthansa will launch a daily Frankfurt-Tokyo-Narita service. Flight LH710 will depart Frankfurt at 1:45 p.m. and arrive in Narita at 9:30 a.m. the following day, local time. The return flight, LH711, will depart Tokyo-Narita at 11:20 a.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 6:40 p.m.
The seasonal summer 2027 service will give Lufthansa additional capacity to serve business and leisure travellers in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The airline will also continue to operate daily flights from both Munich and Frankfurt to Tokyo-Haneda, the region’s second international airport.
Lufthansa will operate both routes with its Boeing 787-9 aircraft featuring the latest Allegris configuration, the airline’s new premium cabin product. The aircraft will offer 28 seats in Business Class, 28 in Premium Economy Class and 231 in Economy Class.
“Japan is a key market for the Lufthansa Group, and we are pleased to further strengthen our presence with additional capacity and the resumption of flights to Nagoya. Together with our expanded Tokyo services, these investments provide our customers with more travel options and support the continued diversification of our intercontinental network. As the leading European airline group in Japan, we remain committed to connecting people, cultures and economies between Europe and Japan,” said Dieter Vranckx, Member of the Executive Board and Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Group.
SWISS will also expand its services to Japan in summer 2027, with up to seven weekly flights between Zurich and Tokyo-Narita.
Overall, the Lufthansa Group’s hub airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and ITA Airways, will offer up to 50 weekly flights to four destinations in Japan in summer 2027: Tokyo-Haneda, Tokyo-Narita, Osaka and Nagoya.
The Lufthansa Group airlines will further strengthen their position among European airline groups in the Japanese market, based on the number of weekly flights. Passengers will also have additional booking options through the group’s joint venture partner, ANA, providing more connectivity to Japan and beyond.
