Kazakhstan’s flag carrier, Air Astana, has announced new international routes from Almaty and Astana to Salalah in Oman, as well as a new service from Almaty to Tokyo Narita (NRT) in Japan. The airline will also launch flights from Astana to Bangkok, Thailand.
Air Astana will operate its flights from Almaty and Astana to Salalah using Airbus A320neo aircraft, while the Almaty–Tokyo Narita and Astana–Bangkok routes will be served by Airbus A321LR aircraft.
The airline has opened ticket sales for direct scheduled flights from Astana and Almaty to Salalah, a popular holiday destination in Oman.
Flights from Almaty to Salalah will operate on Fridays from 23 October, while services from Astana will run on Saturdays from 24 October.
The new services will allow passengers to travel to Salalah without connecting flights.

Return fares from Almaty start at USD 535 in Economy Class and USD 1,390 in Business Class. From Astana, return fares start at USD 595 in Economy Class and USD 1,370 in Business Class.
The airline will also launch direct flights from Astana to Bangkok on 11 December, adding to its existing services from Almaty. The new flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. The new route will expand the airline’s network from Astana and provide passengers with more travel options. It will join existing services to destinations including Dubai, Phu Quoc, Phuket and Antalya.
Air Astana will introduce direct flights from Almaty to Tokyo Narita on 30 November, with scheduled services operating twice weekly.
“The launch of direct air services to Japan is a key priority and supports our ambition to strengthen Kazakhstan’s leadership as the hub of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Tokyo, our 22nd new route in 2026, is one of the world’s leading centres for business and tourism, and the new service, operated by Airbus A321LR aircraft, will provide a significant boost to trade, economic and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Japan.” said Ibrahim Canliel, CEO of Air Astana.
The flight from Almaty to Tokyo will take 7 hours and 30 minutes, while the return journey will take 9 hours and 25 minutes.
Building on its existing partnership with Japan Airlines, Air Astana will operate the Almaty–Tokyo Narita flights under a codeshare agreement.
Return fares start at USD 797 in Economy Class and USD 3,177 in Business Class, inclusive of all taxes and charges.
