Atlantic Airways, the national airline of the Faroe Islands, has placed a firm order with Airbus for two A320neo aircraft. The order will support the airline’s transition to an all-A320neo fleet, helping improve operational efficiency and streamline maintenance.
Atlantic Airways currently operates four A320 Family aircraft, including two A320ceos and two A320neos.
“Our ambition is to operate an exclusively A320neo aircraft fleet in the near future, and this agreement marks a significant step towards achieving that goal,” said Niels Mortensen, Chairman of the Board of Atlantic Airways. “This investment will help ensure the continuous renewal of our fleet while supporting efficient operations.”
“We are pleased to strengthen our partnership with Atlantic Airways as they advance toward a complete A320neo fleet,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business. “By adding two additional latest generation A320neo aircraft to their future fleet, the airline is reinforcing its commitment to regional connectivity. We look forward to continuing our support to facilitate efficient connections for the Faroese communities.”

The Airbus A320 Family is the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft family, with more than 20,400 orders worldwide. It offers at least 20% lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft, while providing greater passenger comfort through one of the widest cabins in its class.
Atlantic Airways is based at Vágar Airport (FAE), the only airport in the Faroe Islands. Its regular European services connect the archipelago with destinations such as Copenhagen, Billund, Aalborg, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, Keflavík and Oslo, alongside seasonal routes.
According to Planespotters.net, Atlantic Airways operates a fleet of four aircraft, comprising two Airbus A320-200s and two Airbus A320neos. The airline also provides domestic air services to remote islands and conducts search and rescue (SAR) operations using Leonardo AW139 helicopters. The airline’s helicopter fleet includes two Leonardo AW139 helicopters.
