The Lufthansa Group has announced its Summer 2027 flight schedule, featuring 10 new intercontinental connections, new European destinations and increased frequencies on several routes. The schedule will be available for booking from 20 October 2026.
The expansion marks the Group's most extensive programme growth since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Lufthansa, Discover Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Brussels Airlines, Edelweiss and ITA Airways will all expand their offerings for Summer 2027.
The expansion will focus on the Americas, with new nonstop connections to Edmonton in Canada, Columbus and Phoenix in the US, and Caracas in Venezuela. In Asia, Lufthansa will add two destinations in Japan from Frankfurt: Nagoya and Tokyo Narita.
“The world moves a little closer for Lufthansa Group customers in the Summer 2027 flight schedule: a total of ten new destinations and even more new connections represent not only the largest route expansion across our six Lufthansa Group hubs in a long time, but above all a promise to our guests: even more choice, even better connectivity, and even shorter journeys to what drives people, meeting business partners, family and friends, and exploring the world together with them,” said Stefan Kreuzpainter, Senior Vice President Commercial Customer Offer, Lufthansa Group.
Lufthansa adds Columbus and Phoenix to its network
Lufthansa will launch a nonstop service between Frankfurt and Columbus, the capital of Ohio, on 5 May 2027, operating three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The airline said it will be the first and only European carrier to offer a nonstop connection to the region, which has a strong economy and a high proportion of business travellers. The route will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 featuring Lufthansa's new Allegris cabin configuration.
From 28 March 2027, a daily service will connect Frankfurt with Tokyo Narita, Japan, with bookings open since 6 October. The new route will complement the existing daily services from Frankfurt and Munich to Tokyo Haneda, adding a second Tokyo airport to the airline's daily network. The service will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 featuring the Allegris cabin configuration.
The Frankfurt–Nagoya route in Japan will also resume seasonally from 29 March 2027, with flights operating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Frequencies will increase on several other routes, including services to Cape Town in South Africa, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, Hyderabad and Chennai in India, and Montreal in Canada. The Frankfurt–Kuala Lumpur route, which launches in October 2026, will continue through Summer 2027, with services increasing to daily flights.

Dubrovnik, Croatia, will return to Lufthansa's route network from Frankfurt as a new European destination, with daily flights operated by an Airbus A320 family aircraft.
The Munich–Phoenix route will launch on 3 August 2027, connecting the Bavarian capital with Arizona three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The service will be operated by an Airbus A350-900. Phoenix is one of the fastest-growing regions in the US and currently has no direct connection to a Lufthansa Group hub.
From 28 March 2027, a second seasonal service will be added to the Munich–Delhi route, also operated by an Airbus A350-900. Frequencies will also increase on routes to Bangalore, Chicago, São Paulo and Singapore.
SWISS expands services to Asia and Europe
SWISS is expanding its offerings in the summer of 2027 where demand from its passengers is particularly high. On long-haul routes, the newly introduced connection to Bengaluru in southern India with five weekly flights will remain part of the summer schedule. SWISS is also expanding its service to Tokyo-Narita (Japan): at the beginning of the summer season until the end of May, and in October, the airline will fly to Tokyo daily. From June to September, it will increase the frequency from five to six flights per week compared to last summer.
With Toulouse (France), the airline is adding a new destination to its route network, connecting Zurich with the southern French city twice a week from June 25 to August 23. At the same time, SWISS is increasing frequencies to popular holiday and business destinations in Europe, including Budapest (Hungary), Hamburg, Paris, Nice (both France), Bremen, and Niš (Serbia).
Austrian Airlines expands seasonal and long-haul services
Mauritius and Malé in the Maldives will remain on Austrian Airlines' schedule until 22 April and 25 April 2027, respectively, extending services by almost a month beyond the winter timetable. In Asia, Tokyo Narita and Shanghai will return to the schedule at the start of the Summer 2027 season. Tokyo will be served daily from May to October, while Shanghai will receive five weekly flights. Bangkok will continue to be served daily throughout the summer season.
Across the Atlantic, the airline will operate flights to New York's JFK and Newark airports, Washington, Boston, Chicago and Montreal, with Los Angeles returning to the network in late April. These routes will operate five to seven times a week using Boeing 777 aircraft.
From June to September 2027, a new Vienna–Beirut route will also be launched. Austrian Airlines will offer its largest-ever portfolio of destinations in Greece within the Lufthansa Group, including Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Kalamata. The summer schedule will also feature destinations across Spain's Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and mainland, alongside an expanded programme in Italy and France.
ITA Airways adds Caracas and Verona
ITA Airways will expand its network for the Summer 2027 season with a new nonstop service between Rome Fiumicino and Caracas, Venezuela, starting on 30 March 2027. The route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, using Airbus A330-900 (A339) aircraft.
The airline will also strengthen its domestic network with a new Rome Fiumicino–Verona route from 28 March 2027, improving connectivity between key Italian regions for both business and leisure travellers.
Brussels Airlines adds Cairo to its network
Brussels Airlines will add Cairo, Egypt, to its Summer 2027 schedule, operating five flights per week between Brussels and the Egyptian capital. Following the successful launch of Kilimanjaro services in Summer 2026, the airline will increase flights to the Tanzanian airport to three times a week.
In Europe, Evenes in Norway will join the summer schedule following the successful launch of ticket sales for the 2026–27 winter season. Frequencies will also increase to Porto in Portugal, Heraklion and Zakynthos in Greece, and Funchal in Madeira.
Edelweiss expands African and leisure routes
Edelweiss will expand its long-haul services for the Summer 2027 season, with seasonal flights to Windhoek beginning earlier, on 16 March, and increasing to three times a week from July.
The airline will also increase services on several other routes. Flights to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar will operate four times a week, while frequencies to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Malé in the Maldives and Tampa Bay in the US will rise to up to four, five and five flights per week, respectively.
Discover Airlines adds Edmonton service
Discover Airlines will launch its first nonstop service between Frankfurt and Edmonton in summer 2027. Alberta's capital will become the airline's third Canadian destination, alongside Calgary and Halifax. From 1 June 2027, the airline will operate three weekly flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The service will be the only nonstop connection between Germany and Edmonton.

The leisure airline will also expand its long-haul operations in Munich by basing a third Airbus A330-300 there. With the addition of two flights to Windhoek, services to the Namibian capital will increase to five departures per week from Munich during the Summer 2027 schedule.
Lufthansa said Eurowings will announce its Summer 2027 flight schedule at a later date.
