Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam’s flag carrier, will launch direct flights between Hanoi and Ahmedabad on 3 November, marking its fifth route to India.
The airline will operate four weekly return services on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using Airbus A321 aircraft.
Flight VN969 will depart Hanoi at 5:35 pm and arrive in Ahmedabad at 9:30 pm local time. The return flight, VN968, will depart Ahmedabad at 10:45 pm and arrive in Hanoi at 4:35 am the following day.
Vietnam Airlines currently serves four Indian cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Ahmedabad will become the airline’s fifth destination in India.

The new route comes amid growing travel demand between Vietnam and India. India is currently Vietnam’s eighth-largest international tourist market.
Nguyen Quang Trung, deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines, told Nhan Dan newspaper that expanding the airline’s network in India is an important part of its strategy to strengthen direct links between the two countries’ economic and tourism hubs.
“Adding Ahmedabad to our network gives the airline another gateway to western India, enhancing tourism, trade, and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Gujarat state in particular, and India as a whole,” Trung said.
Vietnam Airlines has continued to grow its international network since the start of the year, adding services to Amsterdam, Colombo and Phuket and increasing frequencies to Munich, Moscow, Taipei, Osaka, Tokyo and Seoul.
The new service also provides onward connections to destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, giving travellers more options to explore Vietnam’s cities, cultural attractions and coastal destinations.
The route announcement included figures showing that over 4,400 scheduled flights operated between Vietnam and India during the first six months of 2026, carrying approximately 820,400 passengers.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 97 aircraft, including Airbus A320s, A321s and A350-900s, as well as Boeing 787s.
